Trash 'n' Fashion Challenge

About the Challenge

The aim of "Trash n Fashion" is to increase awareness of recycling issues through a Secondary School creative Art competition.

Fashion students tend to agree that looking good doesn't have to cost a packet! This competition which we have introduced this year will help the public to think of consumption and waste in a different way. It will give students an opportunity to educate their fellow classmates about recycling without preaching - so our idea is to produce a 'Trashion Show' using recycled material to create funky fashion.

So what's in it for the Students...?

  • Prize fund of €1,000 for their school

  • Challenge student's creativity and in terms of personal gain they will have developed a substantial piece for their Art Portfolio especially if they plan to pursue a career in Art & Design.

  • Enhances their academic experience

  • Develop skills for use in present & future careers

  • Provides an opportunity to meet new people and network

  • Improves team building, critical thinking and communication skills

Trash 'n' Fashion Challenge Rules

  • The creation must be made from recyclable materials ONLY

  • Competitors must provide a brief overview of their creation including the materials used

  • Competitors will also be responsible for transporting their exhibit material to and from the event site
